FORT News: The Offseason Begins
Thursday, November 6th, 1969
The 1969 postseason is over and the baseball landscape is silent. But beneath this veneer of serenity, a tension is building. Fellowship of Respect and Trust clubs are preparing for a long offseason of trades, speculation, contract negotiations and preparations for next year. While it won't be baseball, exactly, onlookers will grudgingly take it as a substitute until teams head into preseason camps.

You may now vote for the league award winners, the option is available in the league menu.
New York Crowned Champions
Tuesday, November 4th, 1969
The New York Mets are champions, today and forever. The Mets topped the Colorado Rockies 6-5 at Shea Stadium today to claim the World Series crown.

"Nobody can take this away from us, not ever," said series MVP and center fielder Marlon Byrd after his club had sealed the victory. "We worked hard and we accomplished our goal."

The atmosphere was electric as the newly-crowned champs stormed the field at the conclusion of the game. Fans cheered, gloves flew in the air, high fives and hugs were the order of the day.

"From day one of spring training, I could see it in their eyes," said New York manager Jamie Dagostini. "The players had that look of intensity, of hunger, of a desire to accomplish something great, and today they did that. They're champions of the world."

The Mets took the series 4-3. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the American League Up and a 104-58 record.
