Seattle Wins League Championship Series Tuesday, October 23rd , 2001 The Seattle Mariners are off to the World Series after an exciting League Championship Series triumph. Seattle downed the Minnesota Twins, but needed the entire series to do so, with a 10-0 win tonight at Rogers Centre wrapping up the series 4-3. "It's every guy in this room that made this happen. Without us all pulling in the same direction, we don't win this series," said Don Mattingly, who earned MVP honors for a standout offensive series. Mattingly put up a .333 with a .344 on-base percentage in the series. He also had 3 home runs, drove in 9 runs and scored 4 runs himself. The Seattle Mariners will play against the Colorado Rockies in the next round. Colorado won their series against the New York (N) Mets 4 games to 2.
