Rookie Hurler Honored by NL Wednesday, October 1st, 1969 Few players his age have the consistency to put a solid month together, but Detroit's Jhoulys Chacin carved up the opposition all September long and hauled off the National League Rookie of the Month award today as a result. He sizzled last month with a 4-0 mark, fanning 27 in 45 innings with an ERA of 4.40 in 6 starts. This year Chacin has made 14 starts, thrown 83.2 innings, fanned 55 batters and walked 52. His won-lost record is 6-2 with a 4.30 ERA. |
