Bottomley Awarded September's NL Top Bat Prize Wednesday, October 1st, 1969 When Jim Bottomley stepped up to the plate in September he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the National League Batter of the Month award. The young Milwaukee first baseman posted a .337 batting average with 7 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 17 runs. Bottomley also worked pitchers for 13 walks to post a .414 on-base percentage. For the season Bottomley has hit .290 with 32 home runs and 114 RBIs. He has played in 154 games and scored 96 times. |
