Miami Out of Time, Out of Playoffs Wednesday, September 24th, 1969 Even the most die-hard fans of the Miami Marlins will likely now start focusing on next year. The team was today mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. "We're disappointed," said Marlins center fielder Jack Clark. "Not just for ourselves, but also for the fans that stick with us every year." Miami last appeared in the postseason in 1964. This is their 5th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 17 times in their 23-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Marlins have missed the playoffs 8 times. Miami last won the World Series in 1947. |
