McBean Pitches Diamondbacks to Shutout Win Sunday, August 17th, 1969 Al McBean really had his stuff working at La Stade Olympique today. The Arizona Diamondbacks hurler mystified the Montreal Expos and shut them out 9-0. McBean allowed a total of 6 hits in the ballgame and struck out 5. "The shutout is nice but I'm just happy we won," McBean said with a smile after the game. "Coach can be a real bear when we lose."
