Karros slugs 2 home runs as Mets Squeeze Past Brooklyn
The New York Mets topped the Brooklyn Dodgers, 8-7, in American League action at Ebbets Field. The player of the game was New York first baseman Eric Karros. Al Hrabosky got the save, his 18th in 23 chances. The Mets own a robust 81-43 mark.

Karros contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for New York in the top of the ninth. With his team trailing 7-4, Karros took a fastball from Tex Shirley and stroked the home run to right. His 26th home run of the season allowed the Mets to leap in front, 8-7.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Karros said.
