Pirates Lose, 8-5, at Kauffman Stadium
The Kansas City Royals faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Gene Bearden, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Kauffman Stadium by a final score of 8-5. Bearden went 5.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Kansas City starter Tyler Lyons was credited with the win after throwing 103 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 3-9.
