Victory Over Dodgers Takes New York to 80-43
|
New York got a strong outing from Dick Donovan as the Mets defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers, 5-1, at Ebbets Field. The winning pitcher was Donovan, now 12-6. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2. The Mets have an impressive 80-43 record.
New York used the clutch hitting of Phil B Clark to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to give the Mets the lead, 2-1. For the game, Clark had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I liked his command," said New York manager Jamie Dagostini. "Dick was throwing strikes."
