The South Side White Sox knocked off the Kansas City Royals, 9-5, at Comisky Park. Matt Downs, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason South Side won. The second baseman went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Wandy Rodriguez got the win, improving to 9-9. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 11 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. The White Sox bumped their record to 61-60 with this latest triumph.

With South Side leading 3-2 in the bottom of the first, Downs hit a sinker from Russ Kemmerer for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the White Sox ahead, 5-2.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Downs said.
