Victory Pushes Mets Record to 79-41
|
Josh Willingham led New York to a win over Miami. The final score was 9-6. Willingham scored 3 times, while going 2 for 3. The catcher also totaled 3 runs batted in. New York reliever Cam Bedrosian was credited with the win, to go to 5-1. Mike Leake took the loss for Miami. New York leads the American League Up by 13½ games.
The Mets got a big at-bat from left fielder Dick Davis. For the game, Davis was 1 for 4. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 33rd hit of the season gave New York a 6-5 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Davis told reporters after the game.
