Cubs Get Close Win Over Brewers
|
Chicago rode a fine outing from starter Chris Haney to victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field. The final score was 3-1. The win was credited to Pedro Feliciano in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Jose A Nunez took the loss. Chicago has run its win streak to 10 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Dave Winfield came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Milwaukee pitcher Jose A Nunez, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 2-1.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Chicago manager Matt Ida.
