Brewers Bang Out 7-2 Win Versus Detroit
|
Milwaukee Brewers starter Jim Kaat kept the Detroit Tigers hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 7-2 win. The Tigers drop to 6-6 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1969 season.
The Brewers beat the Tigers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Ken Berry produced in the bottom of the fifth. Batting against Detroit pitcher Jay Howell, Berry gave his team a 4-2 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
Kaat attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
