Cardinals Bang Out 7-4 Win Versus Brooklyn
|
The St. Louis Cardinals trumped the Brooklyn Dodgers, 7-4, at Busch Stadium. St. Louis first baseman Yulieski Gurriel was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. St. Louis is now 54-64, Brooklyn 53-65.
Gurriel contributed a big hit, a 2-run single, for St. Louis in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Gurriel took a sinker from Phil Nastu and stroked the single to center. His 121st hit of the season allowed the Cardinals to leap in front, 3-2.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Gurriel.
