Royals Bang Out 7-2 Win Versus Miami
|
Kansas City beat Miami in a rain-soaked ballgame.
Kansas City center fielder Johnny Lewis was instrumental in his team's 7-2 win over the Miami Marlins. Lewis, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1968, went 3-5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Royals. Bob Sebra picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 6-6.
The Royals benefited from a costly error in the top of the second. With Dave Nelson at bat and Kansas City leading 1-0, the Miami miscue allowed Kansas City to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Lewis told the Kansas City Citizen. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
The Royals go to 44-68, putting them last in the National League Left.
