Sorensen Tosses Shutout
In an outstanding mound performance, St. Louis Cardinals starter Lary Sorensen fired a complete-game shutout against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium today.

Sorensen was the key to the Cardinals's 3-0 win. The 33-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 8 hits and no walks he allowed.

"8 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."

Over the season Sorensen has thrown 165.2 innings and dished out 58 strikeouts with a 9-8 mark and a 3.04 ERA.
