Victory Over Expos Takes Colorado to 64-41
|
The Colorado Rockies picked up a win at Astrodome, knocking off the Montreal Expos, 8-2. Starting pitcher Mike Boddicker, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Boddicker went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 9-7. The slumping Expos have lost 6 straight.
The Rockies got a big at-bat from third baseman Steve R Ontiveros. For the game, Ontiveros went 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 99th hit of the season gave Colorado a 1-0 lead.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Boddicker.
