Multi-HR Day for Bottomley as Brewers Overpower Royals, 14-6
|
Milwaukee designated hitter Jim Bottomley made his presence felt in the 14-6 Brewers triumph over the Kansas City Royals. Bottomley was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 5. Jim Kaat picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-8. Sheldon Burnside was tagged with the loss. Milwaukee, at 39-66, occupies last place in the National League Right.
In the top of the first, Bottomley pounced on a first pitch fastball from Sheldon Burnside and hit a 3-run home run. It put Milwaukee on top, 3-0.
"Feels good to get the job done," Bottomley said after the game.
