It was a fun time at Shea Stadium, where the Bronx Yankees and New York Mets tangled.
The New York Mets relied on the hitting of left fielder Dick Davis to stop the Bronx Yankees, 5-3. For the game, Davis went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. The first-place Mets, at 64-39, now lead their division by 9½ games.
Phil B Clark was 1-3 for New York. The top prospect had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Kenta Maeda. It was his 42nd RBI of the season.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said New York manager Jamie Dagostini. "It's usually not just one thing."
