White Sox Lose to Cubs in Walk Off
|
The Chicago Cubs picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the South Side White Sox, 5-2. On the mound for Chicago was right-hander Tim Wakefield, who played a pivotal role in the win. Chicago leads the National League Left by 9 games.
Dave Winfield, who finished 2nd in the NL in RBI with 87 last year, chipped in for Chicago with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 5 RBI.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Chicago skipper Matt Ida.
