The Detroit Tigers relied on the hitting of first baseman Freddie Freeman to stop the South Side White Sox, 5-4. For the game, Freeman was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Detroit is now 40-62. South Side is 53-50.

Freeman had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from A J Ramos, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Tigers a 5-4 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Freeman.
