Mets Win in 14
|
New York beat Boston at Fenway Park, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Jimmie Keenan, who earned player of the game honors. Boston's current losing streak is now 4 games.
New York used the timely hitting of Jerry Remy to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Mets on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It was terrific getting this win," Keenan said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
