Mets Turn Back Boston, 3-1
|
The New York Mets got a magnificent performance from pitcher Matt Garza, who stifled the Boston offense en route to a 3-1 Mets win at Fenway Park. The first-place Mets have won 4 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Marlon Byrd, the 23-year old center fielder . Byrd contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put New York up, 2-1.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Mets manager Jamie Dagostini, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
