Royals Need Extra Frames to Get Past Mets
|
The New York Mets got a superb performance from pitcher Jimmie Keenan. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Kansas City. The Royals won the game, 2-1. In spite of the loss, Keenan was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The win was Matt Hensley's in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Al Hrabosky took the loss for New York. Kansas City now sits in last place in the National League Left at 38-59.
In the top of the eighth inning, catcher Darrell Porter came through big-time for the Royals. With Kansas City trailing 1-0, he belted a solo home run.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Porter.
