Expos Stymie New York, Take 4-1 Win
|
Denny McLain never let New York get something going. The Montreal right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Expos to a 4-1 win. Roger McDowell got the save, his 3rd in 4 chances. The Expos bumped their record to 49-47 with this latest triumph.
Montreal needed the clutch hitting of Miguel Cabrera to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Expos on top, 3-0. For the game, Cabrera had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Cabrera, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
