Cubs Come Up Short at Baltimore
|
Baltimore Orioles starter Jerome Williams turned in a top-notch performance against the Chicago Cubs at Camden Yards. The result was a win for the Orioles, 3-2. Williams picked up the win for Baltimore, going 8.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 4-8. Chris Sale, credited with the save, is now 12 for 18 in save opportunities.
Gene Freese had a big run-scoring single for the Orioles in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Baltimore leading 2-1 and a runner on 3rd, he got a curveball from Kirk McCaskill and stroked the single to right. It was his 81st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Orioles ahead, 3-1.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Chicago manager Matt Ida said following the tough loss.
Baltimore is now riding a 3-game win streak.
