Tigers Trip Diamondbacks in Extras
|
Fans who congregated at Chase Field were treated to extra-inning drama.
Arizona got a terrific performance from pitcher Chuck Taylor, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Tigers. Detroit won the Chase Field contest, 5-3. Taylor was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Craig Kimbrel picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-4. Ismael Valdez was tagged with the loss. Frank Eufemia got the save, his 2nd in 4 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for Detroit, had it not been for Everth Cabrera, the speedster . Cabrera contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth inning to put Detroit up, 5-3.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Cabrera.
With the win, Detroit goes to 37-58, while the Diamondbacks fall to 51-45.
