The Bronx Yankees picked up a win at Yankee Stadium I, knocking off the Boston Red Sox, 5-4. Starting pitcher Matt Young, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The first-place Yankees have a one-game lead in their division.

Bronx took a 5-4 lead on Bob Nieman's 95th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Nieman hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Boston pitcher Chris C Hatcher shaking his head.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Young said after the game.
