Late Rally by Cubs Secures Win
|
Giancarlo Stanton led Chicago to a win over Detroit. The final score was 7-3. The right fielder collected 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Reliever Adam Ottavino picked up the win. His record improves to 3-2. Craig Kimbrel took the loss. Chicago leads the National League Left by 7½ games.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Ken Singleton to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cubs on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Stanton.
