Miami Skunks St. Louis, 4-0
|
Dick Pole subdued the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-0, pitching a 8-hit gem for the Miami Marlins at Turner Field.
"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Miami skipper Kyle Shea said afterward.
Pole registered 3 strikeouts and issued no walks in his superb performance.
"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said St. Louis manager Doug Morton after the defeat.
For the year Pole has saved 0 games while posting an ERA of 3.53 and 50 strikeouts in 102 innings. His totals also include a 5-4 record in no relief appearances.
