Red Sox Squelch Diamondbacks Offense in Shutout Win
|
Boston played host to Arizona at the friendly confines of Fenway Park.
Boston right-hander Jaret Wright pitched his team to victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Fenway Park. The final score was 6-0. In 5.1 innings, Wright surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed no runs.
Johnny Rizzo, who finished 2nd in the NL in RBI with 107 in 1961, aided the Boston cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 2 with 3 walks.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Wright told the Boston Daily News.
