Dodgers Trip Mets in Extras
|
Brooklyn pitcher Jimmie Keenan did his part in helping his team beat the New York Mets, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The win was credited to Tex Shirley in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Chad Gaudin took the loss. Sherman Corbett got the save, his 2nd in 2 chances.
Brooklyn relied on the hitting of Willie Mays to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Dodgers on top, 4-3. For the game, Mays had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"I had a good game," said Keenan. "Winning makes it even better."
The Dodgers, at 40-47, sit in last place in the American League Down.
