The Colorado Rockies eked out a 4-3 win versus the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Tim Stauffer, who captured player of the game honors. Stauffer picked up the win for Colorado, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Daniel Bard earned his 10th save in 16 chances.
Had Andy Stankiewicz not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Stankiewicz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Rockies.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Stauffer.
The Rockies bumped their record to 55-32 with this latest triumph.
