Loss Extends Milwaukee Losing Streak
|
Milwaukee got a terrific game from shortstop Bill Knickerbocker. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Detroit, 9-4. Knickerbocker was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The slumping Brewers have dropped 8 in a row.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from second baseman Everth Cabrera. For the game, Cabrera went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Detroit a 4-2 lead.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Cabrera told a Detroit Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
