Mathews Slugs Diamondbacks to 6-2 Win
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks topped the New York Mets by the score of 6-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Eddie Mathews. Mathews hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Diamondbacks on the day. The Diamondbacks bumped their record to 46-41 with this latest triumph.
Mathews came through with some timely hitting for Arizona. With the score 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth and no one down, Mathews hit a full count changeup for a solo home run. His 9th home run of the season made it 3-2, Arizona.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Mathews.
