Dodgers Get Close Win Over Red Sox
|
Fenway Park was the site of a competitive game between the Boston Red Sox and Brooklyn Dodgers.
The Boston Red Sox got a superb performance from third baseman Steve Braun, but the Brooklyn Dodgers still won the game, 5-3. Braun was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Brooklyn goes to 39-45, Boston to 40-45.
It could have been a different outcome for Brooklyn, had it not been for Willie Mays, the eight-time All-Star . Mays contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Brooklyn up, 4-3.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Mays told the Brooklyn Gazette.
