Rockies Bang Out 7-3 Win Versus Pittsburgh
The Colorado Rockies knocked off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-3, at Astrodome. Jon Nunnally, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Colorado won. The right fielder was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Ben Sheets got the win, improving to 8-4. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 1. The Rockies own a robust 54-30 mark.

The Rockies got a big at-bat from third baseman Steve R Ontiveros. For the game, Ontiveros was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 75th hit of the season gave Colorado a 3-2 lead.
