Cubs Jolt Royals with Late Rally
|
Chicago starter Chris Haney pitched effectively against the Kansas City Royals at Wrigley Field. The left-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. The Cubs have an impressive 51-32 record.
Ken Singleton was 2-4 with 2 singles for Chicago. The 12-year veteran had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Huston Street. It was his 16th RBI of the season.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Haney, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
