Boston Red Sox starter Jaret Wright was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Brooklyn Dodgers, 5-4. Boston reliever George Mohart picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Greg Mathews shouldered the loss. Boston is now 40-44. Brooklyn is 38-45.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Jorge Polanco came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Greg Mathews, he hit a 0-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 5-4.
"Exciting game to play in," said Polanco. "Getting the win makes it even better."
