Yankees Win at St. Louis, 8-5
|
Bronx and St. Louis duked it out at Busch Stadium and the Yankees came out victorious.
The Bronx Yankees powered past the St. Louis Cardinals, 8-5, at Busch Stadium. Bob Nieman went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs, to lead the charge. Reliever Bartolo Colon picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Ryan Jensen took the loss. Don Mossi, credited with the save, is now 17 for 18 in save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Bronx, had it not been for J T Realmuto, the four-time All-Star . Realmuto contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put Bronx up, 3-0.
Nieman called the triumph "a good team win."
Bronx leads the American League Down by 2½ games.
