Pittsburgh pitcher Randy Wolf gave the Cubs all they could handle, but in the end, Chicago left Wrigley Field with a 3-2 win. Wolf allowed 1 earned run on 5 hits over 6.1 innings. Chicago improves to 50-31 with the win. They lead their division by 9½ games.
Chicago took a 3-2 lead on Joe Lahoud's 27th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Pittsburgh pitcher Stan Thomas in the bottom of the tenth.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Pittsburgh manager Cory Einhorn said following the tough loss.
