Yankees Pull Even With 5-2 Victory
|
Bronx starter Jim Hickey had a strong outing against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. Hickey, now 7-6, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 0, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Yankees bumped their record to 40-40 with this latest triumph.
It could have been a different outcome for Bronx, had it not been for Jeff Branson, the 28-year old second baseman . Branson contributed a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Bronx up, 5-2.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Branson told the Bronx Daily News.
