The first-place New York Mets picked up another win at Shea Stadium.
The New York Mets downed the Boston Red Sox, 6-4, at Shea Stadium. The Mets were led by Kirby Puckett, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The Mets bumped their record to 47-33 with this latest triumph.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when pinch hitter Dick Davis, who is rated as the 45th best prospect by BNN, hit a double. The Mets went on to win.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Davis said after the game.
