Expos Clip Pirates, 3-2
The Expos had to overcome a fine effort from Pittsburgh pitcher Hal Brown to grab a narrow 3-2 win at PNC Park. Brown went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Rob Johnson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 8 save opportunities. At 38-39, the Expos are currently second in the National League Left.

Montreal needed the clutch hitting of Preston Ward to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Expos on top, 2-1. For the game, Ward had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Ward said after the game.
