Cubs Drop Another One
|
The Milwaukee Brewers got a good effort from starter Barry Moore in defeating the Chicago Cubs at County Stadium. The final score was 3-1. Moore, now 4-6, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. Jose A Nunez, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
The Brewers got a big at-bat from second baseman Rafael Furcal. For the game, Furcal went 1 for 2 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Brewers manager Michael Ejercito, "I like our chances."
The Cubs, at 48-29, have lost 5 straight games.
