Puckett Excels, But Marlins Win
|
It was a good time at Turner Field, where fans came to watch the New York Mets and Miami Marlins get after it.
The New York Mets got a superb performance from center fielder Kirby Puckett, but the Miami Marlins still won the game, 8-6. Puckett was named the player of the game despite the loss. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The Marlins' win now puts them at 38-41.
Sean Casey hit a 2-run triple off Jay Tibbs in the bottom of the first, which put the Marlins in front, 3-1. Casey had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
Casey called the triumph "a good team win."
