Expos Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Yankees
The Montreal Expos racked up a win at Yankee Stadium I, bumping off the Bronx Yankees, 4-2. Denny McLain, who started for Montreal, pitched effectively for his team. Rob Johnson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 7 save opportunities. The Expos are now 36-36, while the Yankees fall to 36-35.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when shortstop Francisco Lindor, who finished 5th in the AL in wins above replacement with 5.6 in 1964, hit a single. The Expos went on to win.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Lindor told the Montreal Citizen.
