Cardinals Solve Red Sox, 6-3
|
St. Louis starter Chuck Estrada pitched effectively against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The right-hander led his team to a 6-3 win. The winning pitcher was Estrada, now 1-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 7 and fanning 3. At 5-3, the Cardinals have played well so far.
St. Louis used a timely hit from Gary Pettis to get the win. The center fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the second inning to put the Cardinals on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Chuck is tough when he's hitting his spots," said St. Louis manager Doug Morton.
