Red Sox Lose to Marlins, 4-2
|
The Miami Marlins defeated the Boston Red Sox, 4-2, in American League action at Fenway Park, with Miami pitcher Dick Pole named player of the game. Warren Brusstar notched his 6th save in 8 chances. Miami is now 31-39, Boston 34-35.
Miami used the timely hitting of Harry Rice to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Marlins on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Pole told a Miami Bulletin reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
