Cardinals Score Late, Stun Red Sox, 5-4
|
The St. Louis Cardinals scored a 5-4 win versus the Boston Red Sox at Busch Stadium. St. Louis catcher Eric Wedge nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Reliever Hal Kelleher picked up the win. His record improves to 2-7. Dutch Kemner took the loss. Today's win puts St. Louis at 32-35, while Boston falls to 34-34.
Albert Pujols was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Pujols.
